Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s 52nd birthday Today

Senior Reporter / Thelegalvoice24 : DHAKA, July 27, 2022- The 52nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu’s grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also ICT Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will be observed tomorrow in a befitting manner. Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and eminent nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah, played the pivotal role in setting the country’s crucial course being the beacon of ‘Digital Bangladesh’. To mark his birthday, different programmes will be arranged including discussions, webinars, tree plantation, cutting of cakes, doa mahfil and distribution of foods among distressed people. Awami League and its associates and like-minded bodies have drawn up programmes to celebrate his birthday. Awami Jubo League will plant tree saplings on the premises of Mahanagar Natyamanch at 4pm. Doa mahfil will be held after Asr prayers on the ground floor of Awami League’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office here. Cooked foods will also be distributed after the prayers. Prayers will also be arranged at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and others prayer houses all over the country. Countrywide tree plantation programme will also be held to mark the birthday of Bangabandhu’s grandson. Awami Swechchhasebak League will arrange a cake-cutting ceremony in the auditorium of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) at Khamarbari here in the afternoon. Doa mahfil seeking sound health of Joy will also be held on the occasion. Despite being born to a leading political family, Joy so far preferred a distinct course of action unlike any conventional politician, to materialize the electoral pledge of the party he belongs to and his mother Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leads to build a Digital Bangladesh. Joy was a key figure in formulating the Awami League’s Vision 2021 manifesto, based-on what the party was elected thrice to power at a stretch since 2008, according to media reports. Being a member of Bangladesh’s most illustrious political family, Joy’s character largely reflects the qualities of his grandfather Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh. A graduate in computer engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in the United States, Joy was born in 1971, coinciding with the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation. His father Dr MA Wazed Miah was an internationally reputed nuclear scientist. In August 1975, his grandparents including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, uncles and aunts were assassinated during a military coup in Bangladesh. During the time, he and his mother, father and aunt survived as they were visiting West Germany. The family was barred by the military regime from entering the country until 1981. After returning to Bangladesh in 1981, his mother assumed the presidency of the Awami League and spearheaded the campaign for the restoration of democracy. Sajeeb Wazed attended boarding school in India, including St. Joseph’s College in Nainital and Kodaikanal International School in Palani Hills, Tamil Nadu, according to wikipedia. He studied computer science at the University of Bangalore. Then, transferred to The University of Texas at Arlington in the United States where he graduated with a BSc in computer engineering. Subsequently, Wazed attended the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University where he completed his Masters in Public Administration. During the black chapter of caretaker government, when his mother Awami League President Sheikh Hasina was arrested on non-existent charges which was subsequently found to be unsubstantiated, Sajeeb Wazed took charge of bringing the world’s attention not only to the plight of his mother Sheikh Hasina but also the restoration of democracy in his motherland by launching several campaigns in the United States and Europe. His efforts brought fruition, and the military-backed extra constitutional government was compelled to release Sheikh Hasina from prison, following which she has led three consecutive governments having won the national elections in 2008, 2014 and 2018 respectively.

Bangladesh holds D-8 Council of Ministers in hybrid format tomorrow

Senior Reporter / Thelegalvoice24 : DHAKA, July 26, 2022– Foreign ministry has decided to hold the 20th Session of the D-8 Council of Ministers on Wednesday in Hybrid format taking into account the recent surge in COVID-19 cases worldwide. “The level of participation of the meeting has been augmented with the presence of the Hon’ble Foreign Minister of Iran, Pakistan and Turkey who are expected to join the meeting virtually” the foreign ministry said in a press release this evening. Meanwhile, the release said, deputy ministers of the other D-8 Member States are expected to join the meeting in-person.

EC to make best efforts to hold fair polls: CEC

Staff Reporter /Thelegalvoice24 : Dhaka, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said the Election Commission (EC) will make its best efforts to hold a free and fair election. He said political parties themselves will have to resolve their own political debates. The CEC said election-time government, whichever it is, would extend cooperation to the EC and control of law enforcement agencies will be under the EC. Awal was addressing the concluding speech while holding dialogue with Bangladesh Muslim League as part of the EC’s ongoing talks with political parties. A 13-member delegation of Bangladesh Muslim League led by its President Advocate Badruddoza Suja joined the dialogue while five election commissioners and high officials were also present. Later, EC held talks with a nine-member delegation of Workers Party led by its general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha. The EC will hold dialogue with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh between 10.30am to 11.30am today, with Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh from 12noon to 1pm, Islami Andolan Bangladesh between 2.30pm to 3.30 pm, with National People’s Party (NPP) from 4pm to 5pm.

Cancer manifests depending on the type of cancer and the cell type or the organ affected. Stomach cancer rarely produces warning signs in the initial stages or the signs can be vague or ill-defined. Gastric cancer has been linked with one skin eruption, especially on the face. It can usually occur in the early stages of the disease. Symptom on skin_ Gastric cancer can lead to a rare skin disorder called Papuloerythroderma of Ofuji (PEO). Its typical manifestations are diffuse flushing papules (small raised bumps on the skin), infiltrations, swelling and desquamation (skin peeling) in almost all the body, especially in the face, according to a report published in the Chinese Journal of Cancer research. Along with your skin, it may also impact the mucus, the skin appendages and the lymph nodes. The skin condition is also accompanied by itching. Other early signs to look for_ Apart from the skin condition, first signs of gastric cancer include poor appetite, sudden weight loss, abdominal pain and discomfort or swelling in the abdomen. Other signs of the disease include heartburn, indigestion, nausea and vomiting, which could be with or without blood. You may also feel full too soon after eating only a small amount of food. Low hemoglobin can also be a sign of stomach cancer. How cancer develops? Stomach cancer develops slowly over the years. It begins with pre-cancerous changes in the inner lining of the stomach, before the cancer develops. These early changes rarely cause symptoms and can often go undetected. What’s more, stomach cancers can lead to different symptoms and outcomes, depending on which section of the stomach they started in. Types of stomach cancer_ Most cancers of the stomach are adenocarcinomas, which develop from the gland cells in the innermost lining of the stomach. There are 2 main types of stomach adenocarcinomas. One is the intestinal type which has a slightly better prognosis. In this case the cancer cells are more likely to have certain gene changes that might allow for treatment with targeted drug therapy. Another one is the diffuse type which tends to grow and spread more quickly. Fortunately, it is less common but it is harder to treat than intestinal type. Risk factors of gastric cancer_ The majority of people diagnosed with the condition tend to be over 60 years of age. One of the major risk factors of stomach cancer is your diet. A diet high in salty, smoked and pickled foods and a diet low in fruits and vegetables can increase your risk of developing stomach cancer. Risk factors for the condition also include a history of persistent stomach irritation or inflammation, previous stomach surgery, or a family history of the disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease, obesity and smoking can also increase one’s chances of gastric cancer. Can you feel a tumor in your stomach? If your cancer is at an advanced stage, your doctor may be able to feel a mass in your stomach during a physical examination. If you feel something is wrong, it is best to consult your doctor first for a proper test, and not jump to conclusions. Mostly, people recognize stomach cancer symptoms by sensations such as the stomach may frequently feel swollen or painful. How to prevent stomach cancer? Eating a diet full of colorful fruits and green vegetables may reduce the risk of stomach cancer. Also include plenty of whole grain foods, such as whole grain bread, cereals, pasta and rice. Researchers have also found that limiting the amount of alcohol and avoiding tomato products may also help in prevention of cancer. Avoiding pickled foods, salted meats and fish can also help to protect your stomach. ………….

Avoid procurement of less important items to cut government expenditure: PM

Senior Reporter / Thelegalvoice24 : DHAKA, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today directed the authorities concerned to avoid procurement of less important items to cut the government expenditure in this time of global crisis. “The procurement of the items, which are not required immediately, will remain stop now,” she said. The Premier gave this directive while chairing the Cabinet meeting virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban. The Cabinet members and officials concerned were at the meeting room of the Cabinet Division in Bangladesh Secretariat. Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, after the meeting, briefed reporters about the Prime Minister’s directives on several issues including the collision of Biman aircrafts, project costs and the use of cars. Mentioning that all the projects have already been categorised into A, B and C, he said that the A-category projects would be implemented immediately and the full cost of those projects can be spent. In case of B-category projects, he said, up to 75 percent costs can be spent, while the implementation of C-category projects will remain suspended now. The Cabinet Secretary said if any ministry feels that any project needs to be re-categorised, then they will discuss with the finance ministry and will take decision further. He said there is still scope for overseas tours by the government officials under foreign aid and procurement matters, but other overseas visits are restricted. Citing an example, he said no official can go abroad on a study tour spending the government’s money. In the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister also put emphasis on raising the crops production and careful use of energy. She asked all to exercise austerity in the case of energy and ensure proper use of vehicles– both public and private cars. Regarding Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Sheikh Hasina instructed to specify further the responsibilities of its staffs and make all the on-duty staffs accountable, finding the responsible ones soon in case of any accident.
